Northern Beaches Dementia Advisory Service

The Dementia Advisory Service is partly funded by the Australian Department of Health and Ageing and NSW Department of Ageing Disability and Home Care ((DADHC) under the Home and Community Care (HACC) program, and partly by the Office for Ageing within the NSW Department of Ageing Disability and Home Care (DADHC). 

 

WHAT DOES THE DEMENTIA ADVISORY SERVICE  PROVIDE?

  • Promotion of local community awareness of dementia, available services and encourage early referral for investigation of memory loss;
  • Information and short term counselling to people with dementia and their carers at key stages;
  • Access to diagnostic and support services;
  • Support to local dementia carer support groups.
  • Promotion and facilitation of dementia education and training opportunities to HACC services.
  • Information relating to the special needs of younger people with dementia and facilitate the development of appropriate local service models in the area.
  • Linkage to allied health and other community-based service providers to facilitate a comprehensive service for people with dementia and carers.
  • Assistance to local dementia taskforces to identify local needs and to develop local implementation plans.
