Meet Geraldine, we helped find appropriate services for her husband

Best of all is the feeling that there is someone out there who “has our back”

Geraldine sent us this commendation:

“I am very glad that CCNB was available to us.  I found the next steps following the ACAT assessment that my husband was eligible to receive a Home Care Package level 1-2 very difficult indeed.

“Packages on offer from the agencies I contacted just did not seem appropriate to the specific needs of my husband who still presents as an articulate and independent person, despite his severely impaired short term visual and auditory memory and other cognitive impairment.  It seemed crazy to be locked into a $270 per week package for services that did not match the needs as I saw them.

“The fee for service case management approach immediately appealed and my case manager’s approach in particular was a godsend.  She was able to depart from a standard questionnaire “cookie cutter” approach to assessment and to get a handle on the rather quirky personality and needs of my husband.   I felt reassured that when my needs became greater, she would be able to assist me to locate the services we really needed.

“Several months passed before I contacted seeking further assistance with social support.  She responded empathically and efficiently and we have since enjoyed the service of a experience and charismatic person who fits the bill very well indeed.

“A couple of months has now passed and I anticipate that the time is approaching when we will need to augment the services we call upon.

“I feel very confident that the CCNB team will help me find the best resources to call upon.  Best of all is the feeling that there is someone out there who “has our back”  – i.e. that when the going gets tough the Case Manager will understand the issues and point us in the right direction.”
